Brittle Bush

The resin of Brittle Bush has analgesic properties and was used as a pain reliever. For instance, chest pains were treated with a gum made from heated Brittle Bush. A boiled solution made from the blossoms, leaves and stems was used for toothaches. Brittle Bush was also prepared into a ceremonial incense.

"As a Southern California native, our desert
wildflowers are hardly new to me, but after watching
Season of the Sand Blossoms, I felt I relived
60 years of desert visits in one sitting."
